Discovery of Crystallography

In honor of the International Year of Crystallography, 2014, Junior Girl Scouts will dive into the world of crystals! Encompassing all scientific subjects, participants will discover the principles behind the discovery of DNA's structure, similarity between diamonds and pencils, uniqueness of snowflakes and much more. Four laboratories, managed by University of Missouri's studying scientists, will educate girls on the fundamentals of waves, differences between refraction and diffraction, operating microscopes, and fashioning crystals in a hands-on, entertaining style!
